Carpet Dyeing & Color Repair

Bleach spills, hair dye and acne cream cause color loss. Cleaning cannot fix them. Color correction can, and we have done it for thirty years.

How we do it

Dyeing & Color Repair, by an expert technician.

Bleach, benzoyl peroxide acne cream, carpet stain removal products and some pet urine do the same thing: they strip the color out of the fiber. No amount of cleaning brings it back, because there is nothing to clean. The color has to be put back.

This is the work most cleaners will not touch. When a spot has lost its color, we mix dye on site to match the surrounding carpet and restore it by hand. Done properly, the correction blends into the carpet around it.

It is almost always cheaper than replacing a room of carpet.

Step by step

What happens on the visit.

  1. 01

    Assess the fiber

Nylon and wool are dyeable. Polyester and olefin mostly do not. We confirm what you have before promising a result.

  2. 02

    Match the color

Dye is mixed on site against the surrounding carpet, in your light, not from a chart.

  3. 03

    Apply by hand

The cause of color loss is neutralized, then the dye is worked into the affected fibers and blended.

  4. 04

    Set and check

The spot is set, groomed and checked from standing height and from the floor. We also leave you a spot out bottle for unforeseen touch-ups, and we refill it for free the next time we're out.

“…fix some spots in my carpet where I spilled toilet bowl cleaner and it bleached the color out of my carpet. A friend told me this company could repair that. I have to admit I was skeptical, but decided to try them. Not only was the service man very professional, he was able to restore my carpet to normal, like the bleach spots were never there! I highly recommend this company…”

Questions

Common questions

Can every carpet be dyed?

No. Nylon and wool take dye well. Polyester, olefin and other solution-dyed fibers generally do not, because the color is built into the fiber. We identify the fiber first and tell you honestly.

Will the repair match exactly?

Every repair is different. Your technician will look at the spot, the fiber and your lighting, and talk through realistic expectations with you before starting. Dye is mixed to match your carpet in your lighting. Some sun-faded or heavily worn carpet has texture differences that remain visible even when the color matches.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size and number of spots, but a typical bleach spot is a small fraction of replacing the carpet. Email us a photo or call and we will give you a price.

Will it wash out?

No. Carpet dye bonds to the fiber permanently and survives normal cleaning.
